Study Our Lore

Below are your first steps in joining Alchemy LARP and carving your own legend into our world.

Our World

Gael is a world where anything is possible. Mighty empires wage wars against each other as farmers harvest abundant crops. A young world, Gael is teeming with natural resources and what the inhabitants cannot get physically, they pursue through magical means. Land is one of the few scarce resources as Gael is a small world populated by many diverse peoples, each populated by their patron deity. Cultural clashes flash when the nations are not actively warring, constantly reminding all of the differences between them and their neighbors. Each has a different culture, different morals and different gods.

The Birthing War

The Night of Falling Fire
Year 578 - An elven mage beats his rival Amin Mazen in a game. Mazen calls down a meteor in retaliation, destroying the western quarter of the continent of Nordun. Elven civilization is gutted, with five of their seven cities lost and it never recovers. The eastern continents meet the Tian for the first time as one of their ships arrives later that year to investigate.

Year 1172 - The Eisenstadt Empire finally withdraws after 15 years of siege around the dwarven hold of Bjorgvin. This is a major blow for the Empire as they have lost countless dead in the mountains.
Revolt of the Free Kingdoms
Year 1276 - The southern nobles of the Empire, conquered during the birth of the Empire, demand more and more autonomy. Despite acquiescence from the Empire, or perhaps because of it, the Kingdoms eventually revolt. They immediately break into city states once independence is won but the Empire is so weakened that they are unable to retake the peninsula.
Rise of the Pirate Princes
Year 1302 - Encouraged by the Free Kingdoms, pirates in the eastern sea begin to openly attack Empire trading vessels. The Empire sends a flotilla to retaliate and the sea is renamed the Sunken Sea for all the Empire ships sent to the bottom.
Year 1321
This is the current year in the world of Gael.

Character Creation Guide

Use the step-by-step process below combined with the Rulebook to develop your character for Alchemy LARP!
Step 1
Develop A Character Concept
Decide what type of character you would like to play. It may sound counter-intuitive, but characters with a good concept do better in the game than characters without. Other players want to be around strong role-players with a good concept and costuming. You can find examples of archetypal first level characters in Appendix I of the Rulebook.
Step 2
Choose Your Character's Race
The races included in the core rulebook may be played without previous approval. Other races are included in our Campaign Guide and some, primarily those with strict costuming demands, do require approval from either a Plot member or the particular Race Marshal.. See the Races section on the next page for more information. Please note that Alchemy bends reality where races are concerned. Personal characteristics such as height, weight or gender will not preclude someone from playing a race. With that said, anyone attempting to be offensive with makeup or costuming will be asked to change their race or exit the site.
Step 3
Decide Your Character's Attributes
Every character has five attributes further broken down by scores of 0 - 5. A score of 0 represents the basic human norm while a 5 is a heroic individual far removed from the common citizen. Your primary attribute is generally the one where you expect to purchase the highest level skills as each subsequent attribute’s points become more expensive in Character Points.
Click The Attributes Below For Descriptions.
Strength
This is offensive melee combat at its finest. Here you learn to deal extra damage with weapons, gain inhuman strength or shatter the weapons of your foes.
Dexterity
Not all conflicts are resolved face to face. From the cunning investigator to the crafty burglar, this is where you learn to dodge blows, attack from hiding and hide in the shadows.
Constitution
Where water extinguishes fire instantly, it must slowly wear away at stone. Gain more benefit from your armor, resist mental attacks or even damage resistance here.
Wisdom
This is where you find the abilities to align your spirit with the forces of Life, Death or something in between. Curse your foes, manipulate their minds or interact with the living dead, all to further your own power and that of your allies.
Intelligence
The power of Intelligence can end arguments quickly, one way or another. This is where you learn to ward and protect your possessions or dispel the protections of others before blasting them with bolts of fire.
It would benefit you to review each attributes skills in order to decide which you would like to pursue and how many points you might need in each attribute to obtain the skill you are after.
Step 4
Purchase Your Prerequisites
All skill purchases begin on the General Skills List as it includes the prerequisites for all other skill lines. While it is possible to make a character consisting only of General Skills, it is not recommended and a better course is to choose one or two Attributes to back up your General Skills, even if you cannot afford to purchase those skills at character creation.
Step 5
Purchase Your Individual Skills
You receive a base of 40 character points to purchase skills. Every character starts with 5 Hit Points. It is recommended that you purchase at least a few additional points at every level. Every character also begins the game literate and able to perform basic mathematical operations.
Step 6
Submit Your New Character
Even if you don't have all your skills figured out yet, submit this form to have your character sheet created and sent to your email. You can always ask for help editing your character in our Discord channel.
